Finding Clarity Through Confusion

FINDING CLARITY THROUGH CONFUSION

Kiana Ng Yoga

There seems to be a common theme happening to a lot of people over the past couple of months…

Almost everyone I’ve talked to has experienced some kind of major shift at some point throughout July. This shift could be a career, family, life, relationship, or personal change. I’ve noticed it in myself as well with a lot of change, growth and transformation happening for me over the past couple of months. My thoughts are that Mercury in Retrograde + the 3 eclipses had something to do with it!

Now that retrograde is over and things start to settle down, making us really sit with the changes and transformations that have happened recently, there also seems to be the theme of confusion and uncertainty. When faced with confusion, there’s an urge to resist the flow of life and it’s divine synchronicity and timed perfection by trying to force solutions and answers. There’s a need to take action in some way to try and clear this confusion and doubt over your situation, but taking action through confusion will only lead to more confusion.

If this resonates with you, if you feel like you could really use some guidance right now, try this:

  1. Stop forcing. Stop trying. Stop resisting.
  2. Sit back & be open to receive guidance coming your way.
  3. Relax into a place of deep trust in knowing that all is well and guidance will come to you exactly when the moment is right. Everything is right on time. Just take it moment by moment.

With love,

Kiana

Hanumanasana

Let me tell you a quick story about this pose and how it came to be…

There was a king, Rama, who lived in Ancient India and a demon king who lived in Sri Lanka. This demon king kidnapped Rama’s wife, so in effort to get her back, Rama and his troop set out to battle. During the battle, Rama’s brother was deeply injured and could only be saved by a magic herb in the Himalayas. With the Himalayas being so far away, there was no hope.

However, Hanuman, Rama’s greatest devotee said that he will be able to get the herb in time. So he took one giant leap that reached from India to the Himalayas and retrieved the herb needed to save Rama’s brother.

You can see in this pose the resemblance of Hanuman stretching his limbs to accomplish a task. They say that it was through Hanuman’s devotion that enabled him to do so. So as you practice this pose, practice love and devotion in the journey towards finding your split!

Alignment Principles

  • Start in Anjaneyasana (Low Lunge)
  • Exhale to straighten the front leg into half split
  • Using your breath, start to edge the legs further away from each other
  • Keep the hips square!
  • Hold for 10-15 breaths each side

Prep. Poses:

  • Happy Baby Pose (Ananda Balasana)
  • Lizard Pose (option to pull the back heel in to stretch the quad) (Utthan Pristhasana)
  • Forward Fold (Uttanasana)
  • Seated Forward Fold (Paschimottanasana)
  • Pyramid Pose (Parsvottanasana)

Modifications/Variations:
