Take The Quiz: What’s Your Life Balance?

What’s Your Life Balance?

Kiana Ng

Do you crave balance in your life? Are some areas of your life needing a little more love?

I’m super sensitive to when my scales tip (#libra) & taking some time to level out my life helps reduce my stress levels & it increases my energy.

If you’re feeling off balance, here’s a quick “quiz” that you can do to reflect on your life, where it’s off balance, and where you need to implement more or less time & energy into your life.

Start off by writing out the following categories in your journal:

WORK/CAREER – RELATIONSHIPS – FRIENDSHIPS – FAMILY – PERSONAL/SELF-TIME

Next to each category, answer the following question: In percentage, how much energy are you giving to this area of your life?

That’s it! Once you’ve done this for each category, you’ll have a better picture of where your energy is flowing in your life. Now you know where you’re giving more & giving less.

Sometimes perfect harmony isn’t possible, but the real question is: Are you happy with your life balance the way it is right now? Do you feel drained or energized in your current way of life? If either of your answers are no, then where do you need to give more or less so that you are fulfilled & energized?

Share with me 3 action steps you’re going to take right now to balance out your life so that you can live the way you want to live! Drop them in the comments below.

Tips To Break Through Your Creative Block & Channel Your Creative Flow

Tips To Break Through Your Creative Block & Channel Your Creative Flow

I think that we’ve all experienced a creative block in one form or another… And it sucks! So how do you break through your creative blocks and channel your creative flow? Keep reading!

I can tell you that I’ve experienced creative blocks many times throughout my life. Some of these times include: sequencing for the yoga classes that I teach, writing these blog posts, and musical creativity.

It’s said creativity gets blocked because you’re too in your head rather than in your body and just letting the creative juices flow through you. Which I can agree with, but if it were as easy as “just letting the creative juices flow,” then no one would be having creative blocks!

There are different ways that can help you channel your creative flow and break through your creative blocks, here are a few of my favourite ways:

  • Spend some time in nature – Nothing is more grounding and inspiring than nature’s beauty. Getting outside can definitely spark some inspiration. Not only that, but it’s like hitting a refresh button!
  • Embrace your inner child – The inner child in you always likes to play! By tuning into your inner child, you can draw on it’s ability to play, let loose, and be creative in your approach.
  • Visualize the outcome – Visual yourself completing your area of focus. Visualizing success is a great way to focus your energy and inspire creativity. It also increases the chances for your to experience new creative ideas within your visualization.
  • Get physical – Do something physically active! Physical activity works your body and gets you out of your head for a while, especially physical activity involving water (helps to get the flow unstuck)! Also another great method that acts as a reset button.
  • Open your second chakra – Your sacral or second chakra is the home of your creativity. If it’s blocked, it might be hard for you to channel your creativity. A great way to balance and strengthen this chakra is to meditate with crystals (like Carnelian) while visualizing a ball of bright, orange light becoming steadily stronger right in your lower abdomen.

Why Yoga Is So Good For You

Ever wondered why yoga is so popular? It’s because yoga is so good for you! Keep reading to learn the benefits of yoga.

There are many reasons why you should practice yoga; from physical to mental to emotional & spiritual reasons why. For most of us, our reasoning for practicing is personal and unique to ourselves.

Here are a few reasons why yoga is so good for you (& some of the reasons why I practice!)…

Why Yoga Is So Good For You

  1. Increases range of motion & improves flexibility
  2. Increases mental focus & concentration
  3. Improves general well being
  4. Calms the mind & helps you remember presence, stillness, and peace
  5. Emotional and internal healing
  6. Strengthens the body and mental stamina
  7. Improves energy and vitality
  8. Improves posture
  9. Helps to improve your balance
  10. Invites in relaxation to your body & nervous system
  11. Releases tension and tightness
  12. Clears blockages (physically & emotionally)

Personally, I practice because I like the physical challenge & the internal healing done on my mat. The physical practice was the first thing that drew me to yoga because it took me back to my gymnast days. Now, I’m more about the meditative aspect of my practice that helps me heal & work through the parts of myself and my life that need to be cleansed.

Who Am I? A Technique to Discover Your True Self

Who Am I? A Technique to Discover Your True Self

Who Am I?A Technique to Discover Your True Self

“Who Am I?” The question we all ask…

Self-identity is the one thing many of us yearn for. No one likes to feel lost & everyone likes to have a strong sense of clarity in who they are and direction in what they want. The technique below is designed to help you inquire about the truth of who you are to help you connect to your true, authentic self.

When you have an understanding of who you are, it’s a lot easier to make sound choices and decisions because you’ll know what’s good for you and what isn’t. Having a strong sense of self creates a strong sense of direction.

Who Am I? A Technique

Take a comfortable seated position with both hands resting on the area of your body that holds your true self. Notice how your hands rest on your heart or belly because you are not your mind, nor are you your body.

Take a few deep breaths. Feel the place under your hands rise and fall with every breath.

Feel yourself coming to a place of ease, of stillness, of silence.

Continue to ground deeper and deeper into your true self, with every inhale and exhale.

Start to repeat the question: “Who am I?” at the end of every inhale. And at the end of every exhale, answer with: “I am…” Fill in the blank.

Who are you when the world is quiet? Who are you underneath all of the self-limiting beliefs and labels? Who are you when you were most happiest in your life?

Continue to repeat this pattern of breath-question until you reach a still point where you feel so connected to yourself that a joy starts to spread from an inner knowing of who you are. This inner wisdom is the place that you can always come back to when you’re feeling lost and unsure. In these moments, take a few deep breaths & remind yourself of who you are.

The truth is that your true self isn’t ever too far, you’ve just got to work past the layers that have built up overtime and blocked your sight of it.

Comment below with your truth. Who are you?
