Cow Face Pose

Cow Face Pose is a great release for the outer hips. It feels amazing to do after a strong leg-based practice!
Alignment Principles
- Start in a seated position with both legs extended straight out in front of you
- Hug the legs together
- Cross the right knee over the left knee with the right heel pulled in towards the outer left hip
- If permitting, pull the left heel in towards the outer right hip
- Both knees should be stacked directly in your midline with both sitting bones grounded
- Inhale you right arm up to the sky and pat the space between your shoulder blades
- Exhale your left arm back behind you as you reach up to hold your right hand
- Think about pointing your right elbow straight up towards the sky
- Keep the spine long, chin lifting and gently pressing back

- Eagle Pose (Garudasana)
- Butterfly (Baddha Konasana)
- Sleeping Pigeon
Modifications/Variations:
- Use a strap or towel between the hands
- Sit on a block
- Keep the bottom leg straight
