Alignment Principles

  • Start in Side Lying Split, laying on the right side
  • Lift left leg and hook the knee/leg behind the left shoulder
  • Extend the left leg straight and place the foot in right hand (use your left hand to assist with this)
  • Bend right knee
  • Reach down with left hand to grab right foot on the inside of the leg
  • Continue to point right knee downstairs to keep straight line
  • Press hips forwards to avoid rolling onto back

  • Compass Pose (Parivrtta Surya Yantrasana)
  • Supine Hand to Toe Pose A & B (Supta Padangusthasana A & B)
  • Lizard Pose (Utthan Pristhasana)
  • Hanumansana (Splits)
  • Revolved Seated Wide Legged Forward Fold (Parivrrta Upavistha Konasana)


  • Hold standing ankle
  • Use a strap around lifted foot
